3 months in...

Things here have been going quite well since last wednesday. The big news on saturday was transfers calls. I'm getting transferd and thats about all that i know. I leave at 1045 on wednesday morning which leaves me basically a full day to travel wherever i am going. Chances are i wont go to Grants pass or Klamath falls because they normally leave on Tuesday night. But.... Who Knows?

On thursday we had an awesome day. We spent about 1 or 2 hours tracting and found 2 new investigators. One of the doors we knocked on had tons of pictures of christ and crosses all over the door. Even one LDS one from one of the pamphlets we prosylyte with (the restoration one with the picture of Christ holding a lamb, by Greg Olson). Anyways, The guy who opened the door was wearing at least 6 crosses around his neck and cross earings. We knew it was going to be interesting. He first asked " are you guys mormons" we replied yes and he promptly invited us in. We began trying to teach him but all he wanted to do was bash for about 20 minutes or a half hour. It was really frustrating but we both kept our cool and just sat and listend. He then told us some CRAZY anti mormon stuff. I wanted to get up and punch the man named paul. Well when he was done we i began telling him a bit what we believed about the book of mormon and a few seconds into it he began bashing again. We showed him John 10:16 about "other sheep" and we told him that we knew that the book of mormon was a record of some of the other sheep.
He was really mad and tried calling his pastor to battle it. luckily the lord had a hand in it and he didnt answer the phone. We then told us that he "was warm and cold and had goosebumps" ... we showed him the scripture about the fruits of the spirit. He then believed what we had might be true...

We began teaching him about the restoration and we were able to answer all the bashing questions he had with scriptures out of the bible. (his bible). The spirit was very strong when we taught and he felt it as well. i think it was stronger than i ever have before. He began apologizing and really felt bad that he was so anti. We set up a return appointment and we went again on saturday. The other one was a really good lesson and he now has a decently strong testimony. All because of the spirit.

Well from that story you can see that i am somewhat sad to go but i'm excited to get to a new area withe a new companion and have some new people to work with. I dont know how the spanish thing'll work out but i found out i know more than i thought. Tracting the other day i was able to use a little bit and was able to bear a simple broken testimony and set up a return appointmet with the spanish missionarys. It was really cool.

November 3rd O8

Funny story: i used to have a blue blanket on my bed when i was little and havent used it since we moved in to our new house. I now have the same blanket on my bed now, I remember daniel had it in oregon and left it here when he came home. i instantly recognized the blanket in the apartment, got looking on it and it had daniels initals DJM written on the tag. Kinda cool that i have the same blanket that i did when i was a little kid.

We live with the Kunze family in their basement apartment . Brother Kunze is undergoing chemotherapy for cancer and they are a way cool older couple. The 2 wards we cover are very nice and they take care of us missionarys very well, We always get fed for dinner and we have even had some lunch appointments. We have a lady who drops toilet paper and cereal and a whole bunch of other things at our apartment.

We tracted in to the Gitzen family. They are hispanic and have Esther the mom and a 17ish yr old son and a 12 and maybe 15 yr old daughter that are taking the lessons. They have a hard time finding time that we can go and visit. Last night we called them and the 12 yr old daughter answered and said that her family was all gone. So my Comp. Elder Burdess asked her if she had prayed to know the book of mormon is true. . She said no so Elder burdess had her read Moroni 10:3-5 to us and to pray then call us back. Abought 20 or so minutes later she called back and said that she had received an answer. She Knew it was true and said she would tell her family to do the same. . So we are hoping for more progress with that family.

We are also teaching 2 16 year old kids named chris. They are both willing to be baptised with one with a baptism date of November 15th. The other kid was kicked out of his house and moved in with a friends family who are members. HIs mom wont let him get baptised right away so we are praying her heart will be softened.
Other than that we have been working with alot of less actives and recent converts so that they can continue growing spiritually.

We tract about 12 hours a week and it it really not too bad, We have found many people that just want to bible bash. Its really annoying but it happens. We have had a few people who seem interested and are hoping they call us back. Other than that. . .Tracting is tracting.....

Other Than THat all is going well and im really liking the work. . THanks for your support.

Week One and Two: mtc

Well, I've made it a week here in the MTC. Two More and we'll be in oregon. Time progressivly gets faster and faster every day. And I'm starting to really enjoy it here. The food is awesome and even better than that is the Spirit. . I've definatley learned so so much and am learning more every day.

Yesterday was an especially great day, we went to the refferal center which is the number on all the pass along cards. so we make and take phone calls. Such a neat experiance talking to a real investigator and not a member posing as one. I was very nervous at first but i got more and more comfortable with it and placed a book of mormon while calling
some one to see if they had got a bible as the had requested. It was really cool bearing my testimony to someone real.

Also, last night we had Tad Callister from the 2nd quorom of the 70 come and talk to us about how to become a consecrated missionary. It was a cool meeting and we sat on the 2nd row. it was really cool.

Ive learned alot and have really begun to be able to remember scripture references and how to teach with the spirt according to the needs of the investigator. it is really cool. I know that the Lord is helping me learn and grow. Well my email address is ben.milligan@myldsmail.net so if you could, send that to all the family, i'd love to hear from them. many people are waiting to use the computer so i best be going.

Week 2:

Well another week has gone by. I'm leaving here in less than a week and am excited to get to oregon. Time has gone by so fast and it is really neat here. Last night Richard G. Scott came and talked to us. it was really neat. Well time is short, Gotta run love you all
